    Overview

    The Clamp Operator (1st Shift) is a critical role within our University Park, IL operations, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling, movement, and storage of materials using specialized clamp attachment forklifts. Reporting to the warehouse supervisor, this position plays a pivotal part in maintaining smooth logistics workflows, minimizing material damage, and meeting operational goals aligned with UNIS's commitment to optimizing supply chain processes. The role requires a combination of technical proficiency, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic warehouse environment. As an essential member of the team, the Clamp Operator contributes directly to the company's goal of delivering superior service and operational excellence for our clients while upholding the highest safety and productivity standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • 1. Operate the clamp attachment forklift to safely and efficiently handle, load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse and production areas, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
    • 2. Perform pre-shift equipment inspections to ensure the forklift is in optimal working condition, promptly reporting any defects or safety concerns to the supervisor.
    • 3. Collaborate with team members to prioritize and fulfill various warehouse tasks, including inventory movements, material storage, and preparation for outbound shipments to meet operational deadlines.
    • 4. Utilize RF scanners, WMS technology, and other warehouse tracking tools to maintain accuracy in inventory management and assignment completion.
    • 5. Uphold an exceptional commitment to safety by adhering to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, maintaining an orderly work environment, and meticulously handling materials to prevent damage.

    Compensation

    $20 per hour

    Requirements

    • 1. A minimum of 2 years of experience operating a clamp attachment forklift or similar equipment in a fast-paced warehouse, logistics, or transportation environment.
    • 2. Forklift or powered industrial truck certification, with proven competency in safely operating sit-down, stand-up, reach, or order-picker equipment.
    • 3. Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively, with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and attention to detail.

    Skills

    1. Proficient in operating specialized forklifts, including clamp attachment equipment, with a high degree of safety and precision.
    2. Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify and address minor operational or equipment issues promptly.
    3. Excellent time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
    4. Physical stamina and capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work from heights of up to 30 feet when required.
    5. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain strict adherence to safety and operational protocols.
